Zukowski Scholarship in Memory of Jessica Garabedian

Dr. & Mrs. Mark Zukowski and family are presenting two community scholarships in memory of Jessica Garabedian, patient, friend, business woman, musician and longtime fixture in the Boston transgender community, who passed away unexpectedly March 20, 2014.

These two awards will go to deserving trans folk who are musicians, since Jessica was perhaps best known for her rock band, Temptress.

The scholarship awards are unrestricted grants. If you are a musician or music student in the transgender community, submit the form on the First Event website to apply for one of the $500 awards. Applications must be submitted prior to January 21, 2015. Decisions will be made by Dr. Zukowski and awards will be presented on Friday night during the Fashion Show.

Click here for the application form at the end of this page.

Reserve Before First Event Hotel Rooms Are Gone

The good news is that First Event 2014 is going to be bigger and better than ever! The bad news is the hotel is filling up much faster this year. The Marriott Peabody is close to selling out all hotel rooms for First Event on Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25, 2014. Once those rooms are gone, overflow reservations can be made at a nearby Marriott Courtyard in Danvers, and we will be running free shuttles to the conference hotel. But if you have been delaying making reservations and want to stay at the Peabody conference hotel, you should try to book your room as soon as possible! Please visit the First Event Hotel Venue page and click the link there to reserve your room online.

First Event: Register Early Online

Don’t miss out on all the fun this January 23-27! TCNE members save an 10% or 20%. Some activities have limited space and registering early guarantees your place. First Event 2013 will be the biggest and best ever with your support.

We highly recommend registering for the conference online, especially if you are planning to attend any of the dinner functions. We must give the hotel the meal counts the day before the event starts to ensure there is enough food. Last year, we sadly had to turn down a number of people for dinner tickets who made last minute decisions at the event. We encourage you to reserve your place early and the best way to do that is to register online now.

Online Registration will close Friday, January 18 at 11:59 PM. Please register online before then or you must register in person at the conference the following week.

Visit the First Event Registration page for details and sign up either online or by mail: http://www.firstevent.us/registration/
