Alot of people cringe when they are asked if they might consider being a foster parent. Very often they feel they simply aren’t ready to do it. But, as one Foster Parent told us, its not about us as parents, its about the kids. Adults will never be ready, but the kids, including teens, will always be ready to be loved. This has never been more true for more kids than it is now with LGBTQI kids.
At TCNE, we’d like to spread that love to more kids and there’s no better partner to do this with than the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Our friends at DCF are hosting a virtual workshop on fostering teens next month. A DCF LGBQT specialist will be on the panel to help find homes for the high percentage of teens in foster care who are LGBTQ. Join the fun its educational and even if you don’t foster, you may run into someone who does and having this knowledge might help a kid who really needs it.
